In recent years, Mexico has seen significant growth in the electric vehicle (EV) sector, accompanied by the expansion of charging stations. According to recent data from the Ministry of Energy (SENER), the country has approximately 1,250 public stations, mainly concentrated in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey.
Growth has been driven by government policies promoting electric mobility and private investments from companies like Tesla, ABB, and Enel X, expanding fast-charging infrastructure.
Challenges remain: uneven distribution in rural areas and the need for better integration with the national power grid are critical factors for accelerating EV adoption nationwide.
As EV demand continues to rise, Mexico is expected to see an annual increase of 20–25% in charging stations over the next five years, consolidating its position as a regional leader in Latin America.
